James and Amelia Gray set up Elusive Bloodstock in 2011 to bring all their breeding interests under one umbrella. They moved to Boston, Lincolnshire in 2012 to take advantage of some of the finest fenland soil in the country. Boston is an area renowned for growing vegetables and flowers due to its top quality soil structure.
Since moving to Lincolnshire James and Amelia have expanded the business to now offer clients a five star service in boarding and foaling broodmares as well as managing youngstock from birth to breaking in. Being only one and a half hours from Newmarket means they walk all their mares in to the respective stallions.
James had a strong interest in horse racing and especially pedigrees growing up and on leaving school went to The National Stud to try and make a career out of what he loved. After leaving the National Stud he spent five seasons at Whitsbury Manor Stud.
He has also spent time at Klawervlei Stud in South Africa and Haunui Farms in New Zealand before coming back to work for Cheveley Park Stud.
Amelia studied Equine Management at Shuttleworth College before going on to work in a point to point yard where she developed an interest in breeding. She then went to The National Stud and after joined Dachel Stud as Stud Groom. From there she spent time at Haunui Farm in New Zealand and on returning took up the job of Stud Groom at Gazeley Stud. Amelia took over the day to day running of Elusive Bloodstock in July 2012 and currently helps Tattersalls out at all the sales.
